Why we are building this.
Kilubukila was born from a growing conviction:
the Democratic Republic of Congo possesses material systems, technical knowledge and creative capacities that remain structurally underdeveloped despite their cultural and economic potential.
Rather than approaching Congolese craftsmanship as preservation alone, Kilubukila was created to explore how local materials, techniques and production knowledge could contribute to contemporary industries capable of generating long-term value.
What began through experimentation with raffia, textiles and furniture progressively evolved into a broader ambition:
building production systems rooted in the Congo while connecting them to international design markets.
Today, Kilubukila operates at the intersection of:
- design
- production
- research
- transmission
- territorial development
A growing production ecosystem.
Kilubukila operates through interconnected structures combining design, production, training and material development.
The ecosystem currently includes:
-
KCP SARL — Design, Production & Research
